In the game, you have to time your movements perfectly to help navigate Dirk the Daring through the foreboding castle so he can save his beloved Princess Daphne. Sure, it's been released on just about as many platforms as Doom, but the iPhone's crisp screen and portability really makes this version stand out. The first, and arguably the best, in the FF series takes you back to where it all began, and puts you in the role of the Light Warriors as they set out to save the world. It delivers exactly what you want from a re-release; the same gameplay, the same audio, the same overall experience, complete with controls that are tailed specifically for the iPhone. However, if you're all Doom-ed out, id Software have gone and released their other FPS classic, Wolfenstein 3D as well, so you can choose what to shoot -- demons or Nazis.

(source: ugo.com) Back in the day, everyone had their favorite FPS. Some preferred Duke Nukem 3D, others loved Hexen, but I always thought there was something special about Rise of the Triad. I mean, in reality, there wasn't a whole lot that was unique about ROTT except for the fact that it was the first FPS (that I remember) to incorporate springboards to let you jump, as well as multiple characters with different attributes that made the game different every time you played it. Either way, if you missed Dark War the first time around, then now's your best chance to learn about 1990s FPS games.

(source: ugo.com) Rayman started off as an impressive 2D platformer back in the late 1990s, but it wasn't until he went 3D in Rayman 2: The Great Escape that he really came into his own. Playing a 3D platformer on you iPhone might be a little wonky, but that doesn't mean that you should pass on this title because it's just fun. At the very least you should pick it up because the little guy can't afford limbs – he's just a bunch of floating body parts held together by nothing. Help a brother out.

The original game was developed for PCs back in 1987 before Nintendo slapped an injunction on the company releasing it saying that it was too much of a rip-off of Super Mario Bros. to be sold. Nintendo won, and the Italian sisters disappeared for 22 years, only to recently reappear on the DS and the iPhone. Proof that time heals all wounds; you can now download the updated version of the game for $2.99, or spend $90 importing the DS version from Europe. It's your choice.

(source: ugo.com) The Sega CD is one of those systems that never really got a fair shake, and Vay is proof of that. Released into the App Store during the initial launch window, Vay was overshadowed by new games like Enigmo and Trism, and while both are good in their own right, neither of them are a classic RPG from Working Designs on a system that most people never played. If random encounters and sprites make up what you think is a good game, then you should absolutely pick up this tried-and-true title.
